This What to do to Get a Marriage Certificate in US
First thing that you should know is when you guys applying for your marriage certificate that one or bout spouses must appear in person in the courthouse, city, hall, or town office and sign the application than pay the fee. Lately you can pick or the staff will mailed to your home.
To receive your marriage certificate you definitely to pay some fee, it takes a range from a low of $10 to $115 and it depends on country, city, municipality, residential status and for sure some other cases.
For having a marriage certificate there will be some requirements that do vary by state but generally they need some basic information from you. It should be very clear and here I could tell you more about some checklist that should be your requirements:
- Birthday certificate
- Parental consent if you got marriage in underage (usually under 18) than you may also need court consent in this case
- Photo identification (your driver’s license, state ID card, passport or birthday certificate)
- Social Security number
- Proof of citizenship and/or residence
- Divorce decree if you got it
- Death certificate if widowed
Marriage ID Requirements:
Here you must present proof of birth facts and identification by providing original or certified documents with full name and date of birth such as:
- Current drivers license
- State-issued picture I.D.
- Government-issued photo ID
- Certified copy or original birth certificate
- U.S. Passport
- Foreign Passport
- Military I.D
- Alien Registration Card
- and Social Security Number
Following that steps you also need to wait for several days for your application, each city will a bit different so you must considering about this period.
- 1 day – South Carolina
- 3 days – Alaska, District of Columbia, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington
- 5 days – Minnesota
- 6 days – Wisconsin
Once you’re done with that than it’s time for you to receiving your marriage certificate, it also takes time and just like before, each cities will a bit different.
- 1 day – Delaware, Illinois
- 2 days – Maryland
- 3 days – Iowa, Louisiana, Texas
