Having a portrait photography in Hong Kong is my dream couple years ago and today I bring all my camera gears to this awesome city where people are so nice and food are extremely delicious.
Hi good people my name is Bima and thank you for visiting my photography blog, I share all my photo works and story behind my profession regularly. So hope you enjoy and able to figure out how I shoot and have fun with my couple.
Too good to be true when I received a message through my whatsapp that our past client at Karma Kandara, Aling, ask me and my wife to do portrait photography in Hong Kong, a city where I visit in 2011 with Nina and our daughter Andrea.
Honestly, urban city like Singapore, New York, and Hong Kong are our favorite place to visit for sure!
At this time I met 4 ladies who mostly based in Indonesia and Singapore who will join my 1st session of Lost in Paradise this year. We will sightseeing Hong Kong most favorite place to visit like Causeway Bay, Chun Yeung Street Wet Market, Canton Road, Wong Tai Sin Temple, and for sure the Avenue of Star area.
Preparation of Having Portrait Photography in Hong Kong
The main idea was really simple, they want me to capture their portrait with a Hong Kong ambiances, but I’m gonna say that it will be challenging but truly interesting. Just like another photo session that we’ve done before, me and Nina will always explore the city a day before the shooting day just to feel the city and surrounding.
We’re very enjoy to ride the old tram from North Point to Causeway Bay just like a “real” Hong Kong people.
Again and again I can’t stop my fingers to push my camera shutter since this city was really incredible, and by this post we also put the street photographs so if you willing to invite us to do portrait photography in Hong Kong than you can feel the city’s atmosphere as well.
I also want to say thank you to my make up artist Marceline Carlos who help me and Nina in this photo session, this beautiful artist got amazing talent for sure!
Best Time to Visit Hong Kong for Portrait Session
If you want to do photo shoot than I personally recommend you to visit Hong Kong during winter or spring, they got very convenient weather around 10 18 degree Celsius.
First thing first is browsing your flight ticket and make a book immediately, to do it I recommend you to jetradar or compare prices on flights with Skyscanner. These 2 flight marketplace is having very good feature to check over than 2 company to get the best price for you.
Once you’re done with the flights than what you have to do next is choosing the right hotels for stay. During past 10 years in my destination wedding photo industry I used Agoda.com and Booking.com to fine the best hotel, resort, or event nice apartment to stay.
Down here I will recommend 3 highly recommended hotels to stay in the downtown of Hong Kong,
- Four Season Hong Kong – my client today stay in this hotel and they come with super convenient room and hospitality
- W Hong Kong – there 360 degree Hong Kong view through this hotel
- JW Marriot Hong Kong – amazing scenic view of Hong Kong downtown through this hotel
Down here I will share for what I’ve got during 10 hours with Aling, Herlin, Phatty, and Shally
