Here in this blog I’m gonna share 9 ways to find cheap flights tickets that can save your destination wedding budget.
1. Search your cheap flights tickets immediately
Commonly, airlines will release their tickets 11 months in advance, so once you know where is your wedding locations than go check the ticket way to go there immediately at least once a week. Ticket fare may be so vary depend on supply and demand so once you have a comfortable mind to pay than pay it very fast.
Sure there is a last minutes cheap flights tickets deal but due to destination wedding needs, I DON’T recommend you to do this!
2. When will be best time to buy tickets?
There is no specific parameter to be the best time to buy your tickets but considering peak season, week end and holiday in advance, there is why I used to shoot wedding or pre wedding in a week days. No matter shooting wedding in Bali or Maldives, my past couple used to book me to shoot on Wednesday or even Thursday and here both between me and my couple got our best and cheap flights tickets.
If you only celebrate wedding with a few people (less than 5 people) than in general I can suggest you to book your ticket within 1,5 – 2 month before your wedding BUT if this gonna be a big celebration (over than 20 people) than 3 – 6 months earlier will be better.
3. Is there any BEST day to fly?
It might be great to fly on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday so don’t too much confuse with an idea that buying a ticket on a certain day will result in lower fare. Here I’m gonna suggest to try these combinations:
- Domestic – go depart on Saturday and return on Monday
- International – go depart on Tuesday and return on Wednesday
4. Be flexible with your flight dates
As mentioned, the best tactic for how to find cheap flights to anywhere is to be FLEXIBLE with your travel dates. Give yourself the best chance by searching a couple of days, or even weeks, either side of your preferred departure date.
If you are locked into exact dates, it will be more challenging to get the best deal.
5. Choose the cheapest payment method for your own
Sometimes pay using credit card will costs a lot of payment fee and that’s why I choose to pay with a debit card or transfer from ATM. I definitely still using mine or my wife’s credit card especially for international flight just to redeem card membership, get a frequent flyer points or even add some consumer protection

6. Check alternate airports
This is the good thing! If you know that there is more than one airport on your final destination than try to compare the rates. When I want to travel to Tokyo than sometimes I found a better price if I landed in Haneda rather than in Narita even more If I landed in Haneda than it is closer to my final destination.
Please be CONSIDER to know where your accommodation unit location before you book the ticket, cause when you landed in an airport which is far from your hotels than you will be add more cost for the transportation.
7. Consider to buy round trip tickets
I try many times about it, choosing one way trip will seems got ridiculous price but when you have it than try to get round ticket and it used to be normal rate. Through here you will get two benefit, good price ticket and no worry for your return ticket which is become way more expensive if you buy just few days before you fly back to your country.
8. Consider to fly with different airlines
I choose to fly with full services airlines if I fly for long haul but it quite comfort for me to fly with low cost airlines when I only need to transit in such country. I’ve ben to Maldives few times for pre wedding shooting from my hometown in Yogyakarta Indonesia so I need to fly to Changi Singapore than continue to Maldives.
What I usually did is fly with Air Asia to Singapore than using any kind of full services airlines like Srilanka Airlines or other who give me more leg room, limited transit visa and for sure free hotels with meal which is good both for me and my wife.
Yes it is Jumbo jet with 2-4-2 seat layout and nice leg room
9. Avoid holiday periods when flying
This is what I also suggest to my couple who brought me to some special location, there is always wedding period in several countries and most of them are used to be in summer. There is no more option if you willing to fly on summer but if you just need an engagement session which is took only you, your couple and me than choosing any period in low season will be better.
When I travel for photo shoot than I commonly see that there is only few people on the venue cause it is totally in low season. Great things will come too, first I can concentrate for my mood in shooting and second one, I got my couple being so enjoy cause no one see the while we have a photo session.
