My flight was standing by till after an hour flight I touch down in Indonesia’s capitol city called Jakarta, here I’m going to meet my couple named Joanna and Angga who gonna preparing their wedding ceremony by having an engagement session or here we used to called it as a pre wedding. Using this heavy full frame camera on my first session is absolutely worth it and I just wondering that I can buy used Nikon D800E earlier to get more joyful photo session experience.

I’m so lucky because during this 10 hours of shooting I will visiting both indoor and outdoor area so generally I can try how this Nikon D800E works well during today session. Good friend of mine telling me that buy used Nikon D800E for working is like owning an old BMW car so no matter you buy an old 5 series E39 1997 than you still able to drive in pleasure and kick your pedal to run as fast as you can.

Than to let you know that during these session I use two kind of lenses that also really matters on my work.

I start shooting on a heritage cafe in the down town just before they open for commercial business, so generally I could explore around 1 hour on that beautiful vintage cafe. Everything that I have during this session are so wonderful, great location, cooperative cafe, and cool full frame camera on my own feels like today is so perfect to have and if you consider this gear to work on wedding industry than buy used Nikon D800E is still worth it.

The saddest thing is we don’t have good time to get lunch so after finish at the cafe than we need to wait couple of hours for make up touch up so if If I may than I will suggest you to bring your own MIER Lunch Box to keep your meals in a good hand.

3 – Suit on Hand

I surely amaze that Nikon designer put their passion and determination to make a great handy camera and when you hold this Nikon D800E than you gonna feels that you put your hand in a muscle car that provide you with superb driving pleasure. It is tight at every hand grip and its rubber materials will avoid some accident like slippery or similar. By the way I’m 170 cm and 90 kg guy so for photographer I’m quite big that used to have chubby hand, few years ago I’ve been shooting with small DSLR camera and what make me surprise is because I have my hand sweat than suddenly it slippery and almost fall down on the rock. I’m absolutely grateful that I still have neck strap with quick release and safety tether on my own.

How to Shoot with Nikon D800E Properly and Creating Great Image?

If you are a sniper who want to kill an enemy than the first thing that you must do is knowing your gun, it is similar with shooting in photography, here you must know your camera better before capturing moment. I know that you might use camera before but today I will give you my personal recommendation about how to use and shoot with Nikon D800E than creating beautiful image.

1 – Adjusting Your ISO

In a simple words than ISO is a censor that you must be adjust to get the right illumination on your image. As high as you set the ISO than you can shoot in a bright result in the dark area but if you doing this than you may have some noise on your image. If you shoot during the day light like at 10am or afternoon than simply set the ISO around 100 but if you want to shoot at indoor space like hotel lobby or preparation room than my personal ISO setting suggestion is on 1600.

2 – Remind, Your Camera is a Full Frame

If you use non-full frame censor camera or we called it as APSC than if you put the 14mm lens than it goes to 14mm x 1,6, so at the end your image will looks like around 22mm range. It will be extremely different after buy used Nikon D800E because now you use full frame camera censor, it means if you shoot using 14mm lens than it goes to exactly the same as 14mm.

From 22mm to 14mm is extremely different range and if you don’t get use to it than you gonna feel some distortion or irregular perspective on your final image. I suggest you to practice more and more to get the right angle while shooting using this full frame camera censor.

Look at the photo sample above, there I shoot my couple by using Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED and I set it on maximum 14mm range, if you see the wooden boat at the left you gonna see that it seems the boat is not in a perfect shape due to perspective or we used to called it as distortion but when you go through at the centre (the couple) than everything looks so fine. When you use full frame camera censor and you gonna shoot for a personal portrait or group than make sure that you put the object in the centre because all the rest will affected to the distortion.

3 – It’s a Heavy Camera, Aware for Good Strap

Nikon D800E is a professional camera so it made as a big and heavy gear, due to this condition you must be aware with your own safety while shooting wedding. I know you might shoot so fast so I highly suggest you to have some strap that could help you handle this camera during the session. Having a professional strap means you must choose the right one which made from good and comfort materials so you will feels good to hold it for few hours.
