Today is my second time for flying to Hong Kong, quite different with my first time visit cause now I’m here for shooting a portrait session of a socialite ladies who stay in different cities such as Bali, Jakarta, and Singapore. Actually this my 4th time for getting hired with these sweet ladies following my early session in Suluban Cliff, Westin Resort, and Karma Kandara, all of them are in Bali Indonesia. A year ago one of my client sent me a whatsapp and asking me to go to Hong Kong but we’re not in the right schedule till finally we got a chance to meet each other during winter season on February.
When I get a notification that we gonna have a photo shoot in Hong Kong than Nina directly sent a whatsapp to our previous couple who brought us to Maldives, Billy and Dickie and they told us that February will be the coldest month for all winter season in Hong Kong.
Than, Eagle Bird is Flying….
We took our morning flight with Air Asia from Kuala Lumpur directly to Hong Kong so we gonna landed around 10 am in Hong Kong International Airport. Me and Nina don’t wanna too rush cause we want enjoying this trip so much so the first thing that we had after touch down in this busy airport is finding the tasty Hainan chicken rice at the neatest food court inside the terminal building. We were so hungry so I ordered big size or Hainan chicken rice (compliment with lemon juice) than Nina is getting fun with her super tasty Rice and Chicken Curry (compliment with lemon tea).
Due to few travel blog that I read before, today we try our first time overseas trip without having the luggage, so we only bring cabin luggage of 7kg while I certainly bring my camera bag. We try to travel as simple as we can and choose to wash our clothes when we need to bring it home in clean.
If you gonna have a joy trip to Hong Kong than there are various airlines that you can choose, from the budget till the full services airlines. Nowadays I try to browse my international ticket fare using jetradar from Kuala Lumpur directly to Hong Kong. You could visit this helpful website or using the search form that I post below:
When I was in Hong Kong few years ago during summer season, I go to the downtown by using Airport Express train (price could be cheaper if you buy for return ticket) but today I wanna see the Hong Kong downtown clearly so I choose to ride with the bus to go to my hotel, if you want to see the beautiful city than ride with the bus is way better than subway or train, you also can consider to sightseeing around downtown using an old classic Hong Kong tram cause it was superb!
1st Night in Four Seasons Hong Kong
We flew to Hong Kong before the Valentine’s day so there are so many decoration surrounding the hotel that related to this special day, every day we saw the hotel staff put some rose flowers, lily, or other beautiful and colourful flower in every single corner of this hotel, look at the love shape rose flower right on the lobby, it such beautiful decoration for sure!
Time goes by till the sun goes down slowly than we got a chilled night in Hong Kong with thousand of people passing by right in front of us. It was 10 degree Celcius during 7pm and we wait for our previous couple Billy and Dickie for private kitchen dinner style. By the way me and whole family are living in Indonesia now and through this tropical country so we feel that 10 degree is quite freezing for us but I truly enjoy my first winter season here in Hong Kong.
Comparing with my 1st Hong Kong trip I could highly suggest you to visit this country during the winter, it was so comfort even I don’t get sweat during the day even the day after tomorrow I’m going to shoot on ladies portrait session for 10 hours and exploring some of beautiful part of this country. Nina was telling my clients to wake up early cause we gonna go to Chun Yeung St. Wet Market, Canton Rd, Causeway Bay, and get in done on Avenue of Star.
Room is Huuugee!
I try several accommodation type here in Hong Kong, from the smallest and tiny room like what we got in Yes Inn till the most luxury one like Four Seasons Hong Kong. I know that today I will stay in 5 star hotel but the room is so big so if you travel with kids than this hotel is highly recommended.
See the minimalist working desk at the second photo, that was my favourite spot to back up my data, do some post productions or take a glass of tea while enjoying the Symphony of Lights with no rush, try this! there is a laser show called Symphony of Lights from 20.00 to 20.20 for every single day but if you do it in a budget just like my on my previous trip than you must get stuck with thousand of traveler right in the Avenue of Star but if you gonna do with comfort than you can book a nice luxury one like Four Seasons Hong Kong than enjoy that show from your sweet room.
When I knew my clients want to go to Avenue of Star than I ask Nina to go there a night before, seriously I arrived in that spot at 11.30 night and it was soooo cold but here we take a nice photo to be shared with you.
10 Hours of Portrait Winter Season is Coming, Lets Rock!
I woke up at 6 and saw Hong Kong is so peaceful, there is cloudy sky surrounding so I think we gonna get gloomy pictures for whole day. In my personal opinion, having an outdoor photo shoot during winter is sexy cause everywhere is cloudy and technically, having a cloudy sky help me so much to having such great lighting for my client’s faces.
Our MPV car is ready and thank you so much for Simon who help us to drove around the city and exploring this city so great, definitely will ask Simon again when need a rent car in Hong Kong to take my mom travel around.
