When first time visiting this city in 2011 I suddenly said to my wife that I love Hong Kong so bad.
So many friends and family went there before me and I just see their pictures standing by in the Avenue of Stars and enjoying the magnificent Symphony of Lights, by the way it was incredible.
Hi my name is Bima and thank you for visiting my photography blog, I specialize in wedding and portrait photography so I post hundred of amazing moments from the gorgeous client on earth. When you wanna to see my photography works than kindly visit my portfolio.
Before I share my story about Hong Kong than I’m gonna give you some basic information about this beautiful city, hope it help you as well and give you inspiration about how to travel to Hong Kong
Book International Flight Ticket
I ever told to my wife that I’m gonna give her and our daughter birthday present of holiday in Hong Kong. A year before I book my flight to Hong Kong and wanna stay in Kuala Lumpur and Macao for few nights. Once I went there was in summer but now for the second time I went there in winter, for me winter is amazing cause I don’t sweat for whole day.
There are various airlines that you can book, no matter what airlines you choose to fly (full service or budget airlines) but be amazed cause you will landed in a huge international airport called HKIA. This airport will let you use its sky train just to bring you from departure hall to the luggage area, I ever lost my flight back to Indonesia because I’m not consider about it.
If you want to get the best flight rate than you can use Jetradar, it compare flight rates among 3-4 different companies so it is great for us to see those price
Hotels That I Personally Recommend!
I love to try accommodations no matter what it is, it can be a cheap hostel with tons of delicious street food in front of it till 5 star luxury hotel where I can see Hong Kong harbor view for 360 degree.
My first recommendation for 5 star hotel is Four Season, its location of Central Hong Kong was superb here you can see the harbor view right from your window. Room is huge and come with great materials and breakfast is incredible by the way I love to eat a lot of sausages during my breakfast.
My next recommendation is Marco Polo in Tsim Sha Tsui, by staying here you could go to Avenue of Star in a walking distance. There are also so many local restaurant, street snacks, or even 7 Eleven convenient store around this place and by the way my recent couple who brought me to Maldives for pre wedding shooting also get married in here.
My Place to Visit Recommendation
All report today is about my journey to Hong Kong before I do photo shoot for wedding, pre wedding, and portrait. If I went to some cities for photo shooting than I used to sightseeing around and see what I could get by exploring those area.
Since my client really want to get the real atmosphere of Hong Kong than I suggest some places that will represent Hong Kong in a good way.
Today I choose sightseeing to Chun Yeung Street (Wet Market) around North Point, Causeway Bay, Canton Rd and Avenue of Star, generally tomorrow I got 10 hours to serve my socialite client so 4 to 5 different spots will be great.
Chun Yeung Street (Wet Market), This is Why I Love Hong Kong So Bad!
This area was so great, this is traditional market that I always looking for and once you are here than you can see how local people buy their groceries, fruits, meat in the right place where the old tram is passing by. Be careful with that but the tram horn is truly magnificent and they never change it for hundred years ago.
When you wanna go here than take MTR to North Point and you will see the long narrow street in a 5 minutes walk. What you see here in the pictures is a photo at 8 am and there are hundred of people going there.
That old tram is always passing by every 15 minutes and they walk so slow and cost only HKD2 no matter where you go (I ride this tram from North Point to Causeway and it was the greatest experience for all)
Causeway Bay
If Tokyo has Shibuya junction than Hong Kong has Causeway Bay for their own. There are thousand of people crossing by the junction, buy street food, and meet their friends. Just like my first time to Hong Kong, Causeway Bay is still amazing and you definitely must go here too.
You can use any kind of public transportation such as bus, MTR, or even tram just like what I did so no matter where you stay than you must go to Causeway Bay.
Canton Road
If Paris has Champ Elysees than Hong Kong got Canton Rd, get ready for your credit card cause tons of 5 star brand are has their own store here. It always nice to visit prime area like Canton Rd, people are passing by with their cool dress especially in the winter than they looks awesome.
Canton Rd is a main road place between Yau Ma Tei and Jordan MTR Station so you can stop in that station and walk for little bit that you will find branded store in this major road.
Avenue of Star
As I said before, one great thing by staying in Marco Polo is I can go to Avenue of Start within 15 minutes walk, just go out from the building and cross the street and I’ll be in one most favorite spot in Hong Kong where people always crowd in the night and see the Symphony of Light.
Being here is always windy even in summer season, especially in winter the night temperature will goes down to 5 degree Celcius so I suggest you to bring your winter clothes.
Last Words from Me
It’s always fun to visiting Bruce Less’s home town and I love Hong Kong so bad, going there on winter is highly recommend and it goes from December to February but make sure you got your jacket on your luggage.
During this journey I stayed in 2 different accommodation, here I got nice Marco Polo in Tsim Sha Tsui which placed in prime area of Kowloon and move to Four Season Hong Kong where you can see the harbor view right from your window room.
Hope you enjoying my photography work and if you willing to see it than you can click portfolio and you see hundred of beautiful wedding and portrait images through it.
I’ll be keep writing more and more about my photography journey and share a lot of nice information about how to be awesome in your wedding and in the rest of my time I also will share about my journey which is containing my travel story or recommendation so keep in touch with me.
Last words, thank you to my gorgeous couple Billy and Dickie Ma who take me for dinner in a nice private kitchen restaurant, it always nice to see you here following our trip to Maldives for your pre wedding session. I’ll see you soon!
